Priya Purohit is a Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology major, on the pre-med track. Her passion for research started at an ophthalmology lab she volunteered for during high school and college; she investigated the role of the glycoprotein Reelin on the development of neural retinal cell types, where she is in the process of publishing my findings. From then, she has always had a curiosity in investigating different mechanistic pathways, as well as being part of a scientific-based community, such as the Erbay Lab. Here, she is investigating the impact of the protein FMRP on senescence and lysosomal activity in general. Outside of research and academics, she plays soccer and tennis recreationally. She also enjoys reading historical fiction novels and watching old sitcoms and documentaries.
